Post #11: Post your Short Film Production progress, research, etc.

Story development: This is going to be an adorable love story about rebellion from society, using a toilet brush and a plunger. It's going to comment on banned relationships (the fact that some families are against individuals dating other ethnicities, genders, races, etc) and racism (plungers aren't allowed in the city of Bain because they're "different"). And yes, this is happening with groups of inanimate objects being brought to life. It's pretty intense.

The city of Bain.

Story Development:

The scene opens up in a place called Bain, which is located in the nook of a toilet-shaped land near the edge of the toilet seat. The creatures that live in Bain are toilet brush individuals, and the Scrubby Bubbles gang leads the nation with their bath salt drug ring. One of the toilet brushes, Bristol, however, has a large crush on a plunger known as Steve. Since plungers are different from toilet brushes, they are banned from the land. Steve tries to overcome this banishment, but when he leaps into Bain, he is pushed off by the toilet brush leader. Bristol watches this happen, so he leaps off of Bain to go to Steve's side. When Bristol leaps off of Bain, he becomes banished as well. Steve and Bristol run off happily ever after.

It's that special time: final project proposals!!! (yay!)

Story 1: Steve the Plunger (Part II)

Concept: A plunger named Steve runs into his arch enemies, the Scrubby Bubbles Gang, and they end up resolving any previous conflict.

Description: The scene opens up with Steve lying on the ground, slowly getting up. He looks off into the distance and sees the three toilet brushes approaching him. Remembering his previous tiff with the gang, he is immediately angry and plans on seeking revenge. However, when the gang approaches Steve, the leader isn't mean at all. Steve goes to attack but the gang shows a truce. Yay friendship, the end.

Premise: Toilet plungers and toilet brushes are very different. However, just because someone is different than you, it doesn't mean that you cannot put differences aside and become friends.

Storyboard:

Color Sheet:

Character Background:

Steve has had issues with the Scrubby Bubbles Gang in the past; they often made fun of him for not being a toilet brush, and their bullying ended up turning into a suicide. He didn't die, but he encounters the gang again.

The Scrubby Bubbles Gang only values similar ideals and physical traits. However, they warm up to Steve and become friends.

Story 1: I cannot cut the steak.

Concept: A steak knife is trying to cut steak, but it cannot complete the task by itself.

Description: A steak knife is hopping and sees the steak. It tries to cut into the steak by misses it, sticking into the table. Frustrated, it keeps trying. A fork shows up and offers to help, but the knife is stubborn. The knife ends up jumping into the steak, accompanied by the fork, and they cut the steak together.

Premise: TEAMWORK IS IMPORTANT. It's okay to accept help!

Color Sheet:

Character Background: The knife has some trust issues and wants to be independent. The fork just wants to help out.

Post #9: Project 2 Model with Texture

Two issues that arose while I was texturing: I cannot figure out how to paint on my model, because I need to add yellow for the eyes and brown outlining the bread for the crust. Also when I rendered out the image his body didn't show up..

For my second project, the entirety of the animation is based around Hank, who is a humanoid toaster-hybrid. Backstory with Hank, his entire body is like a toaster, and his head is like a piece of bread that you put into a toaster. The scene opens with him standing there, looking around. At this point, his head is a normal piece of bread. He looks around and then his head contracts into his body. He walks around, realizing that he can no longer see. His head pops out of his body, fully toasted, but it pops out with such force that his head completely comes out of his body and onto the ground. His body expression is surprised (his arms will flail a bit and he will jump up slightly) and he will try searching for his head. The eventual downfall of Hank is that he steps on his head.
